Next Expansion
We know that Stonemaier games plans to release content for each of the 7 continents of the world. We can look forward to seeing Africa, Central & South America, and Antarctica in the future.
Which Continent is the next Wingspan Expansion?
We currently do not know this information as it hasn’t been announced yet.
When is the next Wingspan Expansion?
According to Jamey Stegmaier the next expansion should come out late 2024 or 2025.
Which Expansion Should I buy?
If you plan to mostly play at 1-2 players Wingspan Asia is the perfect pick. However if you are hoping to play with higher player counts it is recommended to get the Wingspan base game.
It depends on what kind of content you want to add to the game. In general I’d recommend just buying them in the release order unless you have specific needs like playing at 6-7 players, then get Asia next. Or if you find playing birds annoyingly hard and expensive, Oceania’s Nectar resource will make it easier to play birds.

Over 300 Wingspan fans submitted illustrations of their favorite birds in the game for the Wingspan Fan Art Challenge, and we selected 255 illustrations–each by a different artist–in a variety of styles. The end result is a large pack of bird cards–mechanically identical to their counterparts in Wingspan and the Europe, Oceania, and Asia expansions–to add a special burst of flavor to tabletops worldwide.
We donated a total of $25,000 ($1 per Wingspan fan art pack produced) to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the American Bird Conservancy, The Humane League, Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project, and BirdLife International. – Publisher Description

Fan Content
Taxonomic Historian Bonus Card
BGG user SankofaBird has made a new fan bonus card in reaction to the news that the names will be changed on many of the bird cards. This will in some way preserve the Historian Bonus card by having it focus on the birds taxonomic name instead. He has created multiple versions depending on up to which expansion is being used.
Frogmouth Fan Pack
A 15-card expansion made by Travis Willse, featuring 14 species of frogmouths and one bonus card. It was originally available as a free download however Stonemaier games asked Travis to remove the files. (Perhaps this means there will be an official release of some kind in the future.)
Extinct Fan Expansion (In-Progress)
BGG user SankofaBird posted about making an “Extinct” Fan Expansion. He has posted his ideas and progress in a Google Doc (see below). Jamey did replay to a different thread posted by Peter Tutton about his ideas for Extinct Birds & a Seasons Expansion Idea.
Thanks Peter! I’m particularly excited about making an extinct birds promo pack at some point, and I like the ideas you mention here. I’ll make a note of them for Elizabeth to see (crediting you).
Jamey Stegmaier
It looks like we might still get more content even after the core 7 continents are all finished.
